Temple Israel is an egalitarian Conservative Jewish congregation serving the Greater Manchester, NH area. We are located just north of downtown Manchester at 66 Salmon Street. Manchester is located in southern New Hampshire and is approximately an hour north of Boston. See Driving directions here

Rabbi Eric Cohen

Rabbi Eric Cohen, Manchester, NH

Rabbi Eric Cohen grew up in New York City, and attended Ramaz Yeshivah Day School. He went to college at the University of Pennsylvania, and received his PhD in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Yale University.

Rabbi Cohen spent nearly 15 years as a pharmaceutical market research consultant, and served as the president of the Park Slope Jewish Center, an egalitarian Conservative synagogue in Brooklyn, NY. He received his rabbinic ordination from Hebrew College Rabbinical School (Boston), a trans-denominational rabbinical seminary.

Rabbi Cohen taught ancient Egyptian history and literature at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and has taught Jewish texts at several venues, including Nehirim, Keshet and Eshel, organizations dedicated to the full inclusion of LGBT Jews in Jewish life.

Rabbi Cohen enjoys riding his bike and hiking, and is looking forward to re-learning how to cross-country ski.
